Garage sales & branding go together

One of my top things I enjoy doing is making funny videos. From my years producing a daily countdown show at TVU Music Television where we did funny bits all the time, I've learned there's a art to making a funny video. Every year I make it a point to get together with my old friends at 610 WTVN radio, Central Ohios #1 radio station, and do a short piece for their website on John Corby's Worlds Largest Garage Sale. Basically we walk around and look for funny things, people and adlib.  Then make it into something fun in editing. So what? Well that's the beauty of it, many people would say what's the big deal it's just a radio station promotion. However it's an opportunity to show off the brand. Corby and the WTVN on air guys are all funny. The WTVN brand is a adult male demographic talking about guy stuff. This is a great venue to attract younger male listeners who don't push the AM button on their radio that often. They will see these guys are pretty fun and relatable to their lives. Never let an opportunity be lost to build a relationship with your audience doing "normal" day to day things. It brings your brand right down into a relatable level which is the key to making your audience think "hey I wonder what those WTVN guys would think about this". Making a mental connection...always a very good thing.
